For these CEOs, schools gave basis for doing good
Jim Bourque, managing director of Earth Share New England, came to Boston University just after the close of the turbulent 1960s, when social change was being incorporated into public and private policy. Earth Share is a nonprofit that helps organizations by giving working people the ability to donate to a wide network of environmental groups through workplace payroll contribution campaigns.
After getting his masters and working a series of community-related jobs in Indiana, Bourque went to work raising funds for the United Way, rising to the position of executive director for Monmouth County, N.J. After returning to Boston, he assumed his role with Earth Share. He describes his responsibilities at both fund raising organizations as “working with the institutions of society to make them more humane.” read more
