Local Members Participate in Festivals & Expos

Before New Englanders crowd around the television to watch the Super Bowl and cheer on the Patriots, families will have the opportunity to be a part of two different green events where local members are participating. Get outside, get excited, and go learn!

Green Mountain Club

On February 4, Green Mountain Club will spend the day celebrating its 16th annual Snowshoe Festival and Winter Party at the Visitor Center. Entry fees are $8 for GMC members and $10 for the general public. However, if you sign up to become a GMC member at the event then entry is free!

The Annual Snowshoe Festival at the Green Mountain Club is a great way to get out and shake off some cabin fever. They'll have a nice variety of hikes to choose from and free snowshoe demos available. For those who want to stay on campus, they'll offer workshops such as Dog Sledding and North Branch Nature Center's Animal Tracking, as well as demonstrations like the ever-popular Bird on Glove by V.I.N.S.

Later, they'll celebrate upstairs with traditional Irish music by Dave Day and his friends, refreshments, and give away great prizes from generous local businesses!  Funds raised during this dayof winter fun will support the club's Education Programs.

Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests

On February 3 and 4, the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests will be participating in the New Hampshire Farm and Forest Exposition at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester, NH. Fun for all ages and a winter standard since 1984, "New Hampshire's Greatest Winter Fair" offers commercial exhibits, educational sessions, demonstrations, and activities for attendees of all ages. Be sure to stop at the Forest Society's display booth to meet the staff and volunteers.

Admission price is $7 per person; age 15 and under admitted for free. Save $1 off the admission price by bringing 2 non-perishable food items which will be donated to the NH Food Bank!
